LISTEN TO US ON LIVE STREAM. GO TO WAAF.COM *** BAY STATE ROCK AIRS FROM 10 PM TO MIDNIGHT SUNDAYS ***
Thanks to our superb sound engineer/producer Brian, as he moves smoothly behind the scenes mixing the live sound you hear every Sunday night during our live band acoustic segment at 11:30 PM on WAAF. Don't miss Brian's new feature, of which we refer to as "Brian's Reel". Brian features 'the best of' previously recorded live tracks on BSR.

LISTEN TO BAY STATE ROCK SUNDAY'S, 10 PM TO MIDNIGHT. BSR exposes the best of Boston and New England area music, no matter what the style. If it's good, you'll likely hear it first on BSR at 107.3 and now 97.7 WAAF. If you have any doubts about this, tune into Bay State Rock Sunday nights at 9PM on 107.3 WAAF and we'll prove it to you. The proper e-mail address is: baystaterocklistings@yahoo.com. Please keep your listings simple without attachments, photo's or large lettering. Less is more. Thanks. If you are in a band, or a promoter, please submit your show dates by the Wednesday prior to the Sunday night local show. This ensures that we can get your listings posted early for fans looking for shows. As well, we can potentially promote your show on BSR Sunday night. If you're in a band or band management seeking airplay on Bay State Rock, please be sure to scroll down to the bottom of this page for guidelines on CD submission along with where to send it.
Looking to break loose tonight? Check the Local Scene page for daily show updates. Comments on the local music scene can be posted on the Local Music Board.

THANKS to Michelle, our Bay State Rock booking agent, who works tirelessly with me, to schedule the best interviews and live acoustic performances on WAAF's Bay State Rock. Also thanks to the rest of our stellar BSR crew producers/sound engineers Brian and Liz Borden for mixing the clean and clear sounding live acoustic performances each Sunday night. Behind their calm manner, please note that they are running around keeping things running smoothly during the course of the show. We are all proud of the fact that each and every guest on our show always feels welcomed and comfortable. BSR on WAAF is their home as much as it is ours. Our beloved, longtime co-host/producer, Tez, is currently on leave and will be hosting BSR when I (Carm) get called away from time to time. Unfortunately, due to increased full-time job obligations, he can't be with us on most Sunday nights. We miss him dearly.

Here's a brief summary of how to enhance your chances of airplay, info and listings on Bay State Rock and in our Events section:
1. Be sure to e-mail monthly show listings early to baystaterocklistings@yahoo.com . Don't worry about updating changes in your listings, as we will clear the earlier ones and save the latest. Please bear in mind that programming for the following Sunday night show begins early in the week (generally Monday nights). All website postings and most programming for the Sunday show is often completed by the Wednesday evening prior to the Sunday show. If we missed you, it is likely due to late submission. Also, try and list the other bands that you are playing with so it doesn't appear like your band is the only one playing for the night... well, unless you are.
2. Please don't send gigantic e-mails with poster attachments or long essays. They take up much space and tend to be timely to open up and read. Simple text listings are an easier read and provide us the ability to post them quickly in our events section. Also include the club address and city where you are playing. We know many of the venues, but not all of them.
3. Please inform us, via e-mail, as soon as you find out that the show you were supposed to play got canceled. I know it bites, but it happens to the best of us and is nothing to be ashamed of... you are not alone. Getting bumped seems to be a rite of passage in the unpredictable world of booking. We still love you. In your frustration, try and remember it's not fair for your fans to drive miles to see you perform, only to discover you aren't going to be there.
4. When you send your CD's, make sure they're in a FULL-SIZED jewel case with your band name clearly stated on the side for filing purposes. Half-sized or paper cd holders tend to get swept away and lost forever because they can't be filed properly. We're not looking for anything fancy or costly. It's fine if your name is handwritten on the side of that FULL-SIZED JEWEL CASE. Also, shrink wrap appears fancy on CD's, but it's not practical for people like me to slowly tear away at zillions of them. Plus, a little birdie told me all that plastic is bad for the environment. Fancy packaging isn't what's going to be listened to. We just want to hear your music.
5. If you know that you have a cd release date set or any gig at all for that matter, jot it down on a napkin or something and toss it in the package with your demo. It's also good to put a highlighted note on the outside of the package alerting us of your upcoming shows, particularly if it's an important one that's coming up soon.
6. Please write the name of your band clearly on the outside of the package that you are sending.
7. Don't get discouraged if you don't get airplay right away. We're working on it... anyone got a count of how many local bands there are in existence lately? My last count was far more than two hours worth. If your cd is acceptable for airplay, we will get to it eventually. Patience, and remember to send your show updates to baystaterocklistings@yahoo.com.
If there are any questions we haven't answered, let me know. Don't hesitate to say it straight up, but no hollering, please. I'll keep you posted right here with any new pesky and quirky instructions. Finally, last but not least, thanks for reading all this!
